About: Our Meadowsweet Tincture contains fresh Meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria) flowering tops cultivated on our micro-farm in Mount Shasta, CA. To capture and preserve the full constituent profile of the herb, we collect the fresh leaves prior to flowering in late spring and the flowering panicles in summer and combine them into one extract in organic cane alcohol. The fresh leaves taste amazing with notes of wintergreen and subtle watermelon, whereas the flowers smell like honeyed vanilla and almond with a hay note.
Meadowsweet, now botanically in the genus, Filipendula, was formerly a Spiraea. It contains salicylates, and is a source of salicylic acid, from which Aspirin was derived. Aspirin gets its moniker from Spiraea, one of the original anti-inflammatory and pain relieving medicines! Meadowsweet’s anti-inflammatory and analgesic actions can help ease headaches, rheumatism, arthritis as well as acute or chronic muscle and joint pain. It is also a great normalizer and soother of the gut and is indicated for all manner of digestive upset and imbalance, inflammation, and heartburn. Meadowsweet can also be used as a cooling diaphoretic to reduce fever.
